Fashion photography has been portraying youth culture increasingly emphatically since the Postmodern break of the ‘70s. I utilize fashion photography not to simply portray youth culture but to comment on current norms and values aimed towards the youth by all types of influencers, be they corporations or individuals on social media platforms. In this way, each photograph contributes to an abstract narrative imbued with emotional and psychological complexity. I would argue that fashion photographs are more involved artistically and conceptually than they have ever been, to the degree that they criticise themselves.
